little buggers

they seem to wander with us through the swamps, always encircling us from a safe distance. the air is filled with their chuckle and chatter, although they are hardly seen within the bushes, behind the trees and around all the corners we have to turn on these winding paths.

little buggers are fast, whirring, selfish tiny creatures.
shi'nura tells me they can outrun her arrows. they will never confront you directly. instead they will sneak up on your goods when you are not looking, and once they grabbed something they can carry, you will never see that again. they never act alone, often some of them will put up a scene to distract you in front while others will rob you clean from behind.

i asked our narrator how they got to live here, and he told me the story of the Abandoned Kids, long time ago when food wasn't enough to nurture the shrinking megabolos of tin'daal. i'm too tired to repeat all it's details, but there are things in this world that i shudder to know.

I love the pic & the tale & the little buggers can "outrun an arrow" - Wow!

'"Bugger" - such a useful word! I like that it's not offensive for most of us these days, but offense does have a cultural aspect for sure.

haha! stealthy, cunning little rascals, very well described in the story! Interesting photo of conspicuously coloured caricature! :D

I loved the photo and it suits very well to the story. They seem manga drawings. I'm looking forward to see the next episodes.
