Day 206 - Infinite Monkey Theorem

by Marjorie Mcdonald October. 29, 2010 3443 views

The Infinite Monkey Theorem [en.wikipedia.org] states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare.

The same can be said of me and a camera. This was taken with one of my new extension tubes and my 18-55mm lens. I can honestly say I haven't a clue how I managed this. Every other of the 500 shots I took was rubbish.

Oh well, start with a success rate of 1/500 and it can only improve! ;-) I like the picture - nice sense of repetition.

Does the infinite monkey theorem work in reverse; if you gathered an infinite collection of literature, would at least one of them have been typed by a monkey?

Neat shot - the scales reminded me of some sort of fungus.

that works well ! nice macro McMommy ! well it will give you motion blur on a slightest shake , unless you have a macro flash , this would help you increase the shutter speed , but , still better to use a tripod...
best regards ,
