contre jour photo technique challeng

I love to shoot this way, and I often do, there are many examples I could have used. Unfortunately, I had the cloudiest week, with no really good opportunities to shoot outside at all, let alone into the source of light. This is a very satisfying technique [bit.ly] for me, I love flares, and the way shooting into the sun can highlight textures and colours. More challenging was creating this on my table with a clamp lamp. Not sure I did it well for the challenge today with the mushrooms…

Yesterday I saw these wonderful little mushrooms in the grocery store, and knew I was bringing them home to shoot. I just love how graceful and tiny they are….I hope they taste good too!

Shot on Monday… much better results than today!

Did they taste good? I see them occasionally here and always want buy some to photograph. Never do as macro not my forte but they are fascinating little buggers. Always stop to admire them. Wonderful photograph. Your images are bogglingly beautiful.

Oh, I think you did just fine on the mushrooms....maybe a little more side-lit than back-lit but *lit* just the same! Maybe you need 2 clamp-on lamps? I loved scrolling through the kiwi shot, made my eyes go all gaga!

That first shot defies a comment - it is so spectacular! The light and shadows - the delicate lines - the exquisite focus - ALL stupefy me!

Beautiful lighting in #1...until I read your description/technique, I thought those mushrooms were in the ground outside in the sun. I truly believe you can get great photos with artificial light as well as natural. The lower aperture and more in focus works beautifully here. I put it in my favorites.

Awesome work with the mushrooms! I was about to ask if this was natural light until I read the info on the shot. I like the light coming through the Kiwi!
