New toy

I have been thinking of getting a hot roller set now for quite some time, as I am dying to try out some retro looks; however, now I'm worried that I may wind up looking like a brunette Shirley Temple.

Note to self: must learn how to put my hair up in cool retro “do.”

Portable - just need some plug adapters.

lizzie - will post an updo as soon as I figure out one that I like. I feel like a teenager playing with my mother's things.

Looking at pic #1 I thought it was poker chips but that didn't go with the title.

I remember my mum using those throughout my childhood - I wonder if she still does?

My hair is really heavy and straight, curls never ever stay in. And I refuse to get a perm ;-) I must admit Ozluv that I like you with straight hair better!

I'm definitely going to invest in some bobby pins and will check around online for something suitably retro. I'm thinking a simple curl under (a la Lauren Bacall in the 1940's) will work, but I want to play a bit and see what I can come up with.

Hey there- mooch around online... as I recall I was once looking for instructions on doing retro dos for a costume party once and found a number of them. Get lotsa bobby pins, too!

How can have the time. I think you put stuff in to make it hold. But you probably know that already.

Shirley Temple's curls were never that shiny.

That's what I'm thinking, nat. I bet, by this afternoon, it will have all fallen down. (Oh well...)

looks really lovely :) Your hair looks quite thick, if it is you probably don't need to worry about looking like Shirley Temple as it might not stay tightly curled very long.
