So here I am.
Sitting on a train, heading towards Bundaberg to start my new adventure, solo.
There are a few mixed emotions; feeling mostly excited but still apprehensive about this new journey and especially that it's my first time traveling solo in a foreign country.
Brisbane. I called you home for 3 whole months of my life. You were an absolute rollercoaster with more downs than ups but we've arrived in 2020 and it's time to move onto bigger and better things.
I have a love/hate relationship with Brisbane. It does have nice scenery and a good vibe in the city but for a country girl to live here, I found it particularly challenging mentally. Even with an abundance of green spaces I still yearned for the country air.
I met some amazing people along the way and managed to get a job at an Espresso Bar and sharpen up on my barista skills. Grateful for the opportunity, but my chapter in Brisbane has come to an end.
So here I am.
Off to the Australian outback to start my farm work in the town of Childers, QLD. And it's not far off my home town in N.Ireland. A few coffee shops, one or two charity shops, friendly people and a few concerning, questionable people.
I originally had planned to travel right into Bundaberg but some fellow backpackers had warned me of its farm work reputation and the reviews online were curious, to say the least. A lot referring to backpackers getting attacked by kids on the street so going with my gut instinct I sussed out Farmgate in Childers only 45mins outside of Bundaberg.
I'm super excited to be starting my solo travel adventure and to see where it takes and to see who I meet along the way.
