183. Sin

“Over half of the food produced today is either lost, wasted or discarded as a result of inefficiency in the human-managed food chain,” said Steiner. “There is evidence within the report that the world could feed the entire projected population growth alone by becoming more efficient while also ensuring the survival of wild animals, birds and fish on this planet.” (UNEP)

Hunger and Food waste exist side by side!!!

A recent study says, only in Milan (ITA) 180 quintal (1 quintal=100 Kg) of bread is wasted every day!.. yes, everyday!!!

I'm not able to waste food, I still have the stories of hunger of my parents during the 2nd world war in my ears. Only who never had hunger do this. It's a disrespect for the rest of humanity.

You brought the very important subject up here! That's true, people are throwing much food away, whereas other are enduring hunger.

Too true . I find it difficult too to buy just enough for the day's need but with my family it can not be avoided with them phoning at the last minute to say they will not be home for dinner or sometimes lunch . I rather tend to make pasta sauces for the next day with any leftover cooked vegatables though , despite the complaints from my son of reheated food.

Excellent shots.
How can we use the resources better? It's a shame to waste the food.

so sad :(
You're right!
same here, but not like that!
People dont imagine that, but i'm sure if they pass to some hunger situation they would learn to not take food to the trash so fastly

Totally agree with you, Milton!!! I see such a great amount of food waste everyday... being a staff in food manufactoring field since I graduated.
