Beauty in the details...

I took this picture next to an icy blue river that was embanked in ice and snow. I was there in that place to capture the river but ended up being extremely disappointed with lighting. I didn't like anything I was getting. I picked up my gear and started to leave. As I was leaving I noticed a flash of red in my peripheral vision. I saw a small cluster of berries in this tall brown grass. It was so tiny of a detail but just so striking I had to try and capture it. I got down low so the icy blues of the river set off the tiny red. In the end I was in love with this particular shot and it was even what I came for. I was there for the river but came away with this.

I think Life is just like this. We arrive into a New Year hunting for the epic river. For all the grand experiences and big goals that we plan and hope to happen. It's wonderful to get those moments but don't lose sight of the beautiful details that happen when we don't expect it. Don't lose sight of all the precious moments that are unfolding quietly on the way...

xx,

Rachel

Rachel,  lovely image  ... this so often happens doesn't it ... we change our position, the light changes and then the bland becomes beautiful, mesmerising even  ... Then we have the challenge of tying to capture the mood as well as the image ....

That icy blue background is a winner. Love the minimalism and simplicity of this image, and the text is so meaningful.
