Tourism

This was all done in a single wander around Madrid in about 2 hours before meeting up with Stephenie. Might explain why my feet are thinking that they'll never recover. I've got more pics, but I'm limited to 20 a day.

Picture 1 & 2 are on the Calle de Alcala. The first is a bank, and I have no idea what the second is, but the sculptures on the roof are pretty impressive!

Picture 3 is Monasterio de las Descalas Reales; a convent and Madrid's best surviving example of 16th century architecture (apparently).

The fourth is a random shot down one of the streets I was walking down - Calle de los Bordadores, I think.

Five is the covered walkways around Plaza Mayor (Plaza del Sol is being attacked by workmen at the moment!)

Six and seven were accidental uploads of the same photo. The gateway I walked through into Plaza Mayoy.

Eight and Nine are of the Casa de la Panaderia in the Plaza Major. It's famous for the allegorical paintings on the wall. Very pretty anyway.

10-14 are all various shots around Plaza Mayor, including the statue of Felipe III in the middle. As you can see, I was there bright and early. I'll bet it was heaving with tourists later in the day.

15-19 are Plaza Santa Ana, which I really liked. The cafe in 16 is the one where Hemingway liked to hang out. The writer in 17 is Federico Garcia Lorca.
