This is a fair sized chunk of my CD collection and because of actions announced today it may not grow any further.
This may seem a little melodramatic and I have to concede that it is unlikely that I will never buy a CD again - but it has got significantly more difficult to find new music.
Pandora - the web streaming interface of the Music Genome Project allows users to find similar songs to a track or artist that they specify; will close it's service to the UK this weekend because they have been unable to reach a rights deal with PPL and MCPS/PRS.
Pandora won't continue on illegally, but are unable to give in to the excessive demands of the music societies. Pandora will now only be available in the US where it's survival along with internet radio in general is also under threat.
I found several artists through Pandora that I would never have discovered normally - I bought their CDs and without the ability to find new artists the music industry will suffer.
