The 14th tallest skyscraper in Atlanta, Georgia is the hotel the Marriott Marquis. I recently traveled here and specifically chose this hotel for the architecture. It is a 53 story building that was designed by architect John C. Portman Jr. with the construction completed in 1985.
The large atrium is one of the defining features of the hotel and at the time it was constructed was consider the largest in the world. The record was later broken by the Burj Al Arab in Dubai. The atrium is 470 feet high and scenes from different movies were filmed here. The Spider Man Homecoming trailer was shot in the atrium of the hotel. Some other movies shot here were the Hunger Games-Catching Fire and The Hunger Games: Mokingjay part 1. Since I also love film and tv I felt this was definitely a unique place to see.
I would highly recommend staying here if you’re in the Atlanta area. The staff was friendly, the rooms were nice, and the bars in the hotel provided great service. If you love architecture this is a beautiful design to see.
