Common Lizard - Zootoca vivipara.
Loads of common lizards seen on Friday 16th and a beautiful grass snake.
Born to spawn :^)
Toads return to the same pond to mate and spawn every year.
Toads lay spawn in long 'strings' rather than clumps. It is estimated that only 5% of their young one's survive.

Male Zootoca vivipara.
Female Pochard - Wanstead Flats.
One clump of spawn can have up to 3,000 eggs.
Common toads in amplexus.
Male Adder basking.
Whilst watching one adder a second snake appeared. I was sitting when this chap came towards me from a pile of dead bracken. A wonderful experience.
Captured on Friday. No toad strings seen as yet. On Saturday it snowed but toads prefer deeper ponds to frogs so hopefully these guys will survive. Fingers crossed and I'll check on Monday.
