This was first visit to Avebury, and I am planning to return soon to walk the avenues and circles. Whilst there I was fascinated by the ‘ladybugs’ that gravitated to the stones, I am to understand that these ‘bugs’ are the Asian variety as they swarm and our indigenous ones don't.

The first stone I noticed looked like it had a ‘Picasso’ line drawing of a bull/minotaur … and walking amongst these stones you do have a sense of a labyrinthine and your eyes are drawn to the ‘white bull’.

And whilst here I met a fellow photographer who informed me of another stone, that if mirrored, would like the ‘Sphinx’, so for fun I did this in the last.

these are excellent shots of nature's pretty details, including the "sphinx" stone :-) but i admit i am the most fascinated by the picture of this huge, old, mossed tree: it looks like it is melting and hindered by sinking into the ground only by the net of roots below. mythical.

The shot with the daisies is particularly beautiful. I've always wanted to go to Avebury but haven't made it yet. One day!

One of my very favourite places. When I lived in Bristol I visited many times.
I love your little flower offerings.
Did you get to Silbury Hill too?
