Voiron, France

Well… I'm here in Voiron, finally moved into my apartment. Today, i went for a hike up to the top of La Vouise. La Vouise is a local mountain. There is a statue of St. Mary at the top. It's probably a half mile to the top of the mountain from the base. In my case, i hiked for 4 hours straight, there and back, from my house. Its good training, because there is greater territory and larger mountains to be conquered in the future.

As you can see, Voiron has itself a small cathedral. I havent been inside yet, but its supposed to be nice. Notice, out front of the cathedral there is also a plaza reminiscent of Michelangeo's Piazza in Rome.

Up at the tip top of that mountain is where the statue is.

A decent view on my way up the side of the mountain. Unfortunately, the haze limited my view.

Haze and my camera don't mix. It's a view of Voiron. You can see mini cathedral in the lower left. My house is somewhere in the middle, upper third. (Facing South)

Whatever nuts these are, they must be good because the prickly encasing pierces skin with the greatest of ease. People were parked on the side of the mountain-road picking these up.

This family has a mighty fine view…and a cool house. A little taste of a maison francais for ya.

This cathedral is the axis of town and turns into quite the hangout spot in the early evening.
