When we first moved to the Valley in 2001, our friend's Stephanie and Ron took us to Dr. Hogly Wogly's Tyler Texas BBQ [hoglywogly.com] as our initiation to the neighborhood. Our visit with them, I remember, as great fun and great food, but since Paul isn't the biggest fan of BBQ, we hadn't been back. After my notary exam and not eating anything most of the day, I felt I was hungry enough to go back there and was craving ribs. I think I might have just been cranky from the test and the heat, but I absolutely hated the food and atmosphere this time and with Paul not liking BBQ, it's pointless to go back. Everything we ordered was over-cooked and dried out. I got the chicken and rib combo and almost threw up when this massive plate of meat was slapped down on the table. It's dark in there and cramped too, it was too much and we high tailed it out of there as fast as we could. Service was beautiful by seasoned women who run the place extremely well.Yes, America, this is why we are fat.Next time I'm craving ribs, we will go to Boneyard Bistro [boneyardbistro.com] which is within walking distance to the house and perfect for us since it has bistro fare on one side of the menu and BBQ on the other side.
