Where It All Began

When I was a little girl, my existence consisted of a costumed, made-up group of superheroes collectively known as KISS. I had the dolls, the white plastic guitar, and all their albums up to Lick It Up. I wanted to play loud rock n' roll music and kick ASS on stage like they did. I practiced singing their songs and memorized Ace's guitar licks until music notes leaked out of my ears.

My love for the odd and scary (and cool) started the moment I first listened to KISS Destroyer. They changed my brain chemistry. They made me understand the role of the “monster man.”

And I thank them for everything that I am.

These are my cousins, Brian and Doug…and I. We thought we were the coolest kids in town with the KISS Your Face makeup kit.
