Tattoo portrait of my Grandmother

My Grandmother, who was affectionately called “MawMaw” by most of her grandkids was a very important figure in my life.

Since day one, she has always been there for me. She and my PawPaw took care of me most of my life, up until he died. And then she raised me up until I was old enough to move out and live my own life.

She and I had a very special bond that I probably won't have again with very many people. She was my rock and my heart.

Sadly, I lost her to complications of diabetes when I was 8 months pregnant with my first child, in 1998. She is never far from my thoughts and will always be in my heart.

In her memory, and on the 13th anniversary of her passing, I went to Margaret Moose in Hickory, NC to get this portrait of her.

I miss you MawMaw!!

The original photo the tattoo was drawn from.

My MawMaw was about 15 years old here. Her beautiful eyes are the first thing that draw you to her face. God, how I miss that face.
