Sendai Pt 2: Sports Day and Cooking

So, in Japan, usually schools hold events called Sports Days. This is where the whole school goes outside, each student is assigned to a team, and different sports events are held to include everyone in the school. There are races, tug of war, gymnastic stunts, and its generally quite a bit of fun. Its also quite the show for parents, and a lot of them show up, especially when it is held on the weekend.

I also tried cooking in Japan. I made some orange chicken, and a fruit tart. Its interesting cooking in metric. Haha

At the junior high where two of my host sisters go to school. This is tug of war.

Some gymnastics. They are starting to stand on top of one another.

My orange chicken. Ended up very good. Everyone liked it ^.^

Plated version.

At the high school sports day today. More tug of war.

The band played music to one of the races. They're really good.

We made temaki (hand rolls, where you make your own sushi)

My desert in the middle.

The fruits are peaches, manderins, kiwi, and pineapple. I put a lemon glaze on top with white chocolate shavings.

My coffee mug…. I can't remember what color I decided on tho… haha

Well, here is the end of my stay with the Kanaya family. Now off to Chiba in Tokyo.

Got this at a convenience store in the train station. They are actually really good sandwiches and I ate quite a few of them in Japan… its just the english is pretty funny. Premium sand sounds delicious eh? And its great having a variety of delicious to choose from!

Men's bathroom on the bullet train…. why is there a window? And no… there are no blinds, and it is not fogged glass.
