The hummers really like the bougainvillea. They were constantly feeding from it, as well as the lantana and the feeder all weekend. I noticed more hummers than usual this weekend, and before long discovered why. When looking at one of them through the binoculars, what I thought was a female was actually a young male. He was just starting to get the ruby throat, and only had a small patch of red on one side. Peekaboo! This was a first! I managed to capture two of them in one frame! Although they look like they're side-by-side, the one on the left is actually in the foreground, which is why it's slightly out of focus. Coming right atcha!
