Hummingbird moth

I've read stories where a lot of people have mistaken the hummingbird moth for an actual hummingbird. That didn't happen to me. I mistook it for a bumblebee.

It was constantly moving, making it difficult to get some clear shots. For every clear shot I got, there's about 10 more blurry ones.

Visiting the butterfly bush.

It's amazing how far they can extend their proboscis to get the nectar.

In flight, with its proboscis neatly curled.

Bumblebee on the conflower; hummingbird moth in flight in the background.
