Anorexia - Way to Perfection

by Kecskemétiné Nelli May. 24, 2009 10849 views

This is a remarkable homepage: []
It's needless to recommend you because none of you will read it unless you have a beloved suffering from ED.

What's more, all I will get is the ordinary comments “great post,” “nice set, well done.”
Thank you, I don't need them.

Holy anorexia

"everything you've said to me
makes this come more easily
to stuff my face with feelings
has simply left me reeling,
i've come to the conclusion
that there's only one solution
there's nothing left to ponder,
its clear starving makes me stronger."

/Poem by an anorexic patient/

Can you imagine people enjoying starvation?

“They generally have a low self-esteem and feel a distrust of others, a lack of control and/or a feeling of being trapped. (…) They may starve themselves of food over the feeling that they don't deserve anything good. (…) Food, binging and purging and restriction/starvation may all provide a sense of safety, certainty and security that they feel they cannot find anywhere else.”

Can you imagine a child going to bed without having dinner as a self-punishment? As a desperate attempt to become good and accepted by others, especially beloved ones?..

They have an extremely powerful weapon in their hands if they can choose starvation and are not forced by other people or circumstances like famine..

I hope you do not have this disease and I wish no one would have this disease!
Unfortunately, some people are sick without being self-aware.
They have emotional problems and stop to eat without thinking.
They are just not hungry becose off the grief they carry.
The sadness eats at their soul ... they do not wish to consciously starving.
Sorry to say, but this is a very good and strong set!!

I'm very happy you posted this. It is an illness and far too many people suffer from it. If it makes people think about those around them show symptoms of ED, then I'm afraid you'll have to accept that it is a great post.

It is a very sad situation most of us do not understand. I had a student who became anorexic - but having known his very controlling mother for years I could have seen it coming. It was the way he chose to take some control over his life - a tragic way, but for him I guess the only way he could find. He's better now, thank God.
