Putting the water system together. The downspouts fill the big jars, then water is drawn by the pump and delivered to the house. We decided to hire Ta Kon, who dug our well, to build a fence across the front of our lot. He turned up with members of the family to do the job. The fence is important to keep passing cows from bolting into our yard to get something to eat. We need to plant banana and other fruit etc. which they would find too tempting. Grampa found two big scorpions while digging for the fence posts. He cut off their stingers and was taking them home as a tasty addition to dinner. Even with the stinger-tails cut off they are about four inches long and look very dangerous to me. Now that we have our fence we can begin to plant the garden. Ael is putting in a lot of aloe vera near the house in front. I'm finding the original forest soil in the lower parts of the land is dark and friable. I'm moving it into the garden areas and replacing it with fill which we had delivered by truck. It's a lot of work but I get great satisfaction from good soil.
