In the town of Ars-en-Ré, Saint-Etienne Church is a gothic style and cross shaped building.

The bell tower of the church painted in black and white serves as remarkable seamark.

In 1840, the tower was about to fall down because of a violent tempest.

The bell tower hosts tree bells :
- Françoise : the biggest bell that sets the tone Mi or E,
- Marie-Victoire : the medium bell that sets the tone Sol or G,
- Louise : the smallest bell that sets the tone Si or B.

Unique tower, never seen one painted like that! And there would not be enough money in the world that would tempt me to climb up there, for sure!
