How to Pick Up an Egg

More practice with the diffuser and off-camera flash.

Unlike my models above, I doubt my family will want to hang around for the usual 20 photo attempts during vacation. On the bright side, no curves were applied to this shot. Am trying harder to just get a picture with good exposure. Can’t imagine curving 500+ shots from the week (but will be tempted to anyway).

Tonight’s lessons:
Although bounced flash can give plenty of light on its own, turn a light on anyway. It’s always nice to know if your picture will be in focus.
Now that a lightbulb is on, remember to remove the reddish brown cast with custom white balance.
Since the diffuser throws flash right back into your eyes, close them just before shooting!

If I tell you you have a nice shell, will you hold it against me?

Did the little guy get lucky? OK, enough of that, I'm not into this realm yet, and this I believe this is a little pricey, but maybe a reflective umbrella set up with a remote triggered flash would work better for this, or something similar? Good Luck!! cd
