Brimstone (Gonepteryx rhamni) on purple loosestrife, Gamlingay Wood (Cambs, July 2018)

Many of our Cambridgeshire woodlands provide an ideal habitat and setting for the photography of butterflies. Gamlingay Wood is on a clay soil which makes paths slippery in winter, but in summer the purple loosestrife attracts a variety of butterflies, such as this brimstone, and adds colour to the image.
