I find sanderling a delight to watch when visiting Titchwell beach. These little waders trot along the shoreline, occasionally pausing to nibble at some morsel of food they've spotted.

On one occasion I was kneeling down behind my camera mounted on its tripod (to get a better angle of shot) and one little chap wandered right up to me, quite fearless, until he was too close to focus on. Just at that moment my phone pinged, he looked up, changed course slightly and just hurried on along the shore.

I like to photograph waders from as low an angle as possible so that the camera is close to eye level of the subject.

I love that angle, too - especially when I could get down there, before back surgery! Love those beach pictures.

Thanks John, it's been a struggle for me - one hip replaced before Christmas, next hip hopefully in May. When I get down I struggle to get back up again.

Best of luck with that Bob - another back surgery possibly in the works for me, as well. Getting old ain't for sissies!
