Puffin (Fratercula arctica), Skomer,

This was a day to remember - almost four years ago now. We took the boat to Skomer Island off the coast of Wales. Although there were a few puffins skimming over the water and a few more as we climbed the cliff near the landing point, the best views we had followed a long traipse in hot sunshine across the island to the cliff where many of them were nesting.

What a sight! The puffins had no fear of the humans watching them, they flew in from the sea with bills full of sand-eels, they walked right up to you and past you into their burrows where the young were eagerly awaiting their meals. We may have stayed there a couple of hours - the time just flew by.

I hope we may visit again one day - I look forward to the opportunity.

Great picture. I like puffins. I have photographed them on Skomer once, but the best puffin pictures I've taken were on the Farne Islands.
