I have travelled a fair bit and I’m sure every city has its magic. From the crazy of a place like Thailand, to the order of Singapore and every point between, if it’s a city it will have something that makes most people who live their think “yep, this is my home”. Not everyone but most of the inhabitant.

Well I haven’t been an inhabitant of Sydney for a few years and really only 18 months of the last 15 years. I long to go back there. Soon my vagabond life will come to an end and I’ll settle somewhere. I’m hoping that somewhere turns out to be Sydney. I could photograph that place till my last click of the camera. I had four trips to the harbour...just the harbour, the classic view of the harbour...and it wasn’t enough. There’s hundreds of square kilometres to see behind the foreshore around the city centre.

Then there is the people. I really envy street photographers. I just don’t have the motor to put a lens on a stranger. I love street photography but I just don’t have the balls to photograph someone without asking. Hopefully I get the courage up and then there will be a whole new Sydney to shoot.

In the meantime I’m happy to keep trying for the classics. The Opera House, the bridge and the city lights will do for now. Sometimes soon I’ll be back there, even if it’s temporary. I’m sure I’ll end up down near the water trying to get it exactly the way I want it. And if that never happens, I don’t get the perfect bridge or the perfect Opera House, I’m ok with it. More trips back there for me.

I see what you mean about the wealth of photo ops in that fair city! Wonderful camera work Amigo!
Thanks Jay. It'll be home again one day soon
Something wonderful, for which to look forward!
I plan a visit to an old pal in Brisbane, later this year...
