I love visiting Sydney. I lived there for 12 years before my first little run of overseas adventures and I was back there in between the most recent set of adventures around the world. I hope I end up back there at some point. It’s expensive, has terrible traffic, the nightlife has been gentrified to death, it’s constantly getting “fixed” but never getting much better...but I still,l love it and always will.
I was back there twice on my recent Australian return. On one occasion I went looking for original shots (Old Fave New Take). The other one I just had to go back to a favourite place of mine. It’s an old abandoned ship, but not exactly a shipwreck in the true sense of the word. It’s an on working ship that was stripped and left in the upper reaches of the harbour to let nature do its thing.
Damn nature knows what’s doing.
This particular visit was my 5th to same site and I still want to go back there again. I had to cut this trip down to a brief 10minute visit due to another appointmen. I’ve never caught the right sunrise over the high rise buildings in the background, and I’m sure I could play around with the angles of the boat to get new pics. It’s incredible how photogenic this one spot can be. Late at night or early morning it’s magic. It gave me enough good shots that I could play around with black and whit on one hand and massively overdoing the colour on the other. Just because you can.
I’m all for new adventures. It’s truly amazing what this world has to offer. The familiar, however can be equally as magic. You can go back over and over and still feel the same emotion, the same little adrenalin rush you got the first time you were there. It’s like an old sweater (we call em jumpers), except no matter how may time ps you wear it, it’s still brand new.
