So then this happened

I spent 8 weeks in my old home town of Canberra at the end of last year. Being a capital city it gets a bit of a bad rap. The common joke is it's boring. most capitals that aren't the biggest city in a country probably get similar treatment but I quite like Canberra. There is a man made lake through the middle where a river used to run. I used to walk around it on weekends when I lived there. Listening to the football on the radio and basically clear my head. Its really pretty there.

Pretty much every morning or evening in the & weeks I would head to the lake with my camera to get some pics. Pretty much every day I got nothing. The water was rough, it was covered in fog, the sky was blank or the light was just all wrong. I was getting pretty frustrated for all the effort and the lack of reward. With two days to go I figured I'd be getting my work completed but I wouldn't be getting any good pics.

Then this happened

Then this

Then this

Then this

Then this

And finally this

Great pictures, the wait must have been worthwhile in the end I reckon.
We visited Oz a couple of years ago. Started in Sydney finished in Melbourne but stopped in Canberra in the middle. We actually liked it. Quieter and more relaxed and time to think, especially on unfamiliar roads. Sydney and Melbourne were more of a full on experience. Each had their merits but Canberra was OK in my view.

Yeah I’ll always defend Canberra. It’s a good town
