5th Cross Culture Festival in Warsaw

Our first visit to the 5th Cross Culture Festival in Warsaw. It was also the first major edition, with Youssou N'Dour as the main star (we've been to his concert too, but did not take pictures).

Above and below is Indialucia. Indialucia = India/Andalucia. Yes, it's flamenco music with indian vibes… an idea conceived by Polish guitarist Michał Czachowski. A project of globalisation era at its finest. Gotta love world music.

Giridhar Udupa with ghatam, a drumming instrument made of clay. It resembles a big jar actually. Or is a big jar.

Anonymous kid in a brilliant pose ;) You can almost see she's never heard sitar and other oriental instruments on stage… but was so fascinated!

Bad cropping and quality, but I had to take this pic very quickly.

Vishwa Mohan Bhatt, pupil of Ravi Shankar, was the star of the evening. Bhatt is a renowned musician in India and the creator of Mohan Veena, an instrument that mixes sitar with Hawaiian guitar. It sounded very spacey and powerful.

…the only drawback of the otherwise perfect evening? Okami had to stay home ;)
