Faeries, come take me out of this dull world,
For I would ride with you upon the wind,
Run on the top of the dishevelled tide,
And dance upon the mountains like a flame.
William Butler Yeats
I have large gardens of flowers (and veggies and fruits too, but I'm partial to the flower gardens). Well, actually, right now they are large gardens of snow, more snow and a few fallen branches and trees and some of last year's weed stalks. Weeds never seem to fade away.
I love to place whimsical things in amongst the flowers. (No, I don't line them up in the front yard so things look really gaudy- at least I don't think they do- well, maybe the flock of pink flamingoes is a little gaudy, but I do try to hide them under the taller bushes).
This is the latest batch of “stuff” I get to hide around the gardens when the snow finally melts. I had fun at the garden store the other day (just before another storm) perusing the garden aisles and dreaming of this year's gardens. (I'm not usually much of a shopper unless it comes to garden centers or book stores or flea markets- then try to get me to leave).
I'm especially partial to faeries (or fairies- don't rightly know the difference). I have a little fairy garden where they all hang out in the summer amongst all the tiny little flowers. I'll take fairies of any size, though. I like the big ones that hold solar flowers or solar globes.
I'm so looking forward to spring!! Some of my seeds are started, others are ordered, now new whimsy has been purchased. I feel hope now while gazing out at this thick blanket of white all around me. I know spring has to be right around the corner. Doesn't it?
