206. The Cutest Baby Hedgehog Ever

Erinaceus europaeus aka European Hedgehog

I couldn't believe myself, when last night my aunt [photoblog.com] called me to I come fast with any camera, to see something. I was really wondering what it was…and when I saw what it was I could not even believe. It was a baby hedgehog there in my house backyard. It was so cute, and this was the first time I ever touched and ever seen a hedgehog live, without being dead. I mad sure he was fine, so I fed him with an apple from the little orchard my grandmother has near my house, and he liked it. I payed attention to make sure he wouldn't go to somewhere dangerous, and then there he went to his life, to somewhere else that we (I) will never know.
I wish I could stay with it, but this is a wild specie, and in my country it is ILLEGAL have this animals as pet. unless it is a pet specie, which is very similar to this one.
Isn't it a cutie??? he is so cute, so little, so …harmless… :)

I thought he could be kinda hungry…

He was ;) (bad picture because he moved too fast for the night more :/ )

Uma maravilha este ouriço. Também já me aconteceu uns anos atrás e ele ficou quase um mês conosco e depois desapareceu.

Glad you let him go Ricky. I have to explain to my children when they catch turtles and frogs and lizards that they can keep them to study them for a day or two but afterward they must let them go. I ask if they would like to be kept prisoner in a jar or cage and they understand.

Awwwww so cute! We don't have hedgehogs here in Ontario. Looks a bit like opossum with quills. Thanks for sharing this wonderful experience with us Ricky.

I like hedghogs - it was the 1st wild animal I ver saw when I was about 2 or 3 and lived under my garden shed. I used to feed it bread and milk but found out when I grew up that you shouldn't give them that but cat food instead!
