The town of Mtskheta is situated in 25 km to the north of Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, in the confluence of the Mtkvari (Qura) and Aragvi rivers. It was founded probably in the 4th century and for one time it was the capital of the Georgian Kartli Kingdom. Nowadays, it is one of the main spiritual Orthodox Christian centers of Georgia and a fine attraction for foreign travelers (as me :) ). They are reconstructing the town in the Mediterranean style, so that soon it will be looking like a Croatian or Greek settlement. In reality, Mtskheta is full of its own authentic charm and I hope you will feel it.
