Oil, gas and land surveying Kansas USA

Central Kansas is very remote and can be very harsh. I took these images as a team member on a multi week surveying mission for land owners who hired us to find oil and gas.

Did you find any oil or gas? Love the immensity of these fields in North America. Great pictures Bruce

Well, you’re right, it’s harsh but you found beauty. I was born in Kansas, spent a great deal of my life there, and many years in the general area you’ve shown. Still have lots of friends and relatives there, so go back often. I wasn’t into photography at all until moving to Colorado, but wonder what I could come up with if I dedicated some Kansas time to it now. Your photos give me a hint...they’re beautiful, Buster! I love old limestone buildings as well as the dramatic wide skies. Enjoyed this post...thanks for sharing.

You are so welcome Marsha. I spent several months there (in for a few weeks then home then back) helping a friend. All these shots were in the remote farm lands near Russell KS. I wasnt expecting such remoteness, I mean almost wild like! Beauty and the Beast

Yeah, Russell is pretty remote. Can’t imagine being there temporarily for that long. Hays is a good sized town and I imagine you hung out there some. When we left Kansas for Colorado we’d been living in Great Bend for 15 years, so yeah, I know the area!

Oh you know the area! Yes, agree a rather rough area for prolonged periods of time. Hays was our only release and even Hays was a reach for services. I just posted my last Kansas III of the series.
