One more temple (Hozanji in Nara)

All these sculptures are jizo: good deities taking care of infant souls. Mothers who lost their unborn children bring for jizo tea, cookies, sometimes money and wear them in red caps and approns to pay attention of souls to keep near jizo.

I was very surprised seeing that priest is fireing “used” fortunes written on the strips of paper called omikuji. I was afraid of fire!
