05-02-08 FIELD DAY!! - Early Classroom Capers

by Tracy May. 02, 2008 1990 views

Ok, ok…I totally went over board with this post. I do realize this. HOWEVER, my class had such a fun time, and I had so many fun shots it was hard to narrow it down.

Chattanooga Christian School comes to our school every year and puts on a field day. It's not a series of serious games, but silly games that really let the kids enjoy the spring weather and each other. I think I enjoyed it more today than in years past. Maybe just because this year 5th grade's time frame was in the morning when it's cooler, rather than the afternoon. No sweating bullets for me! :)

Of course, it could be because even though these kids can really drive me up a wall, they are the best class I have had in years. There is a real connection between us, and I truly enjoy their personalities. Looking at these shots now, I know I am going to miss them like crazy next fall. There's going to be a lot of thoughts in my head that start off with, “My last years class…” There's a funny feeling in my gut that tells me I'm going to be comparing them to a lot of my future classes. These crazy nuts make me smile.

Reminiscing already-

Waiting to begin…full of anticipation.

My sweet little children.

Freeze tag goes wrong.

It was a beautiful day!

A game of “Canoe” challenges the most athletic.

Who doesn't love the parachute?!

Hurry! Hurry, they are gaining on us!

My girl, Teirysian, hula-ing with the best of them.

Can you jump through the hoop?

Jason did it.

Check out those socks. I think they help.

Looks like fun... and I definitley love the parachute.... hahaha and from all the other responses it seems everyone else does to... but that's no surprising. To be quite honest, it makes me want to be a teacher just so I can play with it again hahaha

I do love the parachute games, and I love the kids faces when the play with it :) I definitely could not jump through a hula-hoop at the moment, lol
No way did you go overboard with this set Tracy, they're all a great selection of such a fun looking day!

What a great set, Tracy. You can see the joy in their faces, and I can feel your joy in the photos. It's obvious you're a great teacher.

I especially love #3. Laughing people always make me smile, and you can tell they're having a good, old-fashioned belly laugh.

You have to be among the great teachers. I'm sure they will say the same about you.

I'm not a teacher, so I can't pretend to comprehend the bond between you and your charges - I just think the warmth, fun and care is so clear in all of these shots - they really adore you, that's for sure, and the feeling is mutual. How wonderful that you can say that you will always look back on this particular class on children :)
I don't think you went overboard at all with this set: it's fantastic. The colour, the life, the sheer fun throughout all of it - and what weather! I personally love #8 - determination and joy combined!

The personalities of the children you teach really shine in this entry - crazy socks, sack races and all!

P.S. - I have a lot of stories that start with "There was this classI once taught...." too. ;)
