Days 29-34: My second visitor!

It's been a few days since I've posted again, but fear not I've plenty to say now! Tuesday and Wednesay this week were just normal days, lectures as per usual and I managed to fit in two Pirates of the Caribbean films! Thursday was an exciting day as a friend who is also studying languages at York came to visit all the way from Aix-en-Provence! After spending the morning rushing around uni to ensure that I was enrolled into all the subjects I should be with the deadline of the following day looming, I headed down to the station to pick her up. Once we found each other, we headed up to Montmartre with my friend who's in Paris to attempt to find a market that was supposedly happening there that day - which it wasn't. But we had a lovely time, seeing the Moulin Rouge (only by day - dangerous area at night!) and going up the hill to Sacre-Coeur on what turned out to be a beautiful sunny day. In the evening, we headed out and up the Eiffel Tower (my second time this month, I'm going to have to start a tally for how many times I visit the famous monuments of Paris whilst I'm here) before a lovely late night chatting and catching up on life! Friday morning I had a couple of lectures, but that didn't deter my friend from ensuring that we got all the sight-seeing and tourism done that afternoon and evening (she's never been to Paris before). So Friday afternoon, we went up the Arc de Triomphe, walked down the Champs-Elysees, stopping for a glance in the windows of some of the pricey shops (feeling inadequately dressed to dare to go inside any of them!), we then wandered past the Grand and Petit Palais, over the river to the Assemblee Nationale before briefly photographing the Obelisk and heading home for dinner (my feet hurt so much after all that)! In the evening, we decided that we still hadn't done enough tourism and so ended up heading out again and seeing Notre-Dame by night (again). After deciding it would be a good idea to watch Cinderella when we got home, it ended up another late night and a lie-in was definitely required in the morning! We made it to the Louvre for a little wander by about 3pm before heading back to Sacre Coeur for fireworks (there was a festival this week) above the city. It was honestly beautiful. After the fireworks we headed into Bastille (no, not the prison!) for a couple of drinks with some friends and ended up staying out quite late (late enough that the metro was closed when we tried to go home anyway). So a new experience was that of getting the bus across Paris to get home - we were lucky we looked up the route whilst we had wifi in the bar because otherwise we'd never have made it home! But make it home we did, and were sleeping by 4.30am! 3 hours later we were off out again, to get my friend back to the station to return to Aix-en-Provence! Safe to say, after delivering her safely, I returned to bed and enjoyed a long lie-in!
