12 Month Challange

by Dean Singleton December. 28, 2011 2248 views

The challange is to post one photo shot each month. If no photo taken in one month pick one from before or after so you have 12. It doesn't have to be your best, just one you like for the month. Object is to see your own progression. It's harder than you think.

January—a little snow on the lakeside dock about a half mile from my house.

February—Backbreaker—Superbowl weekend 2011. Titled backbreaker because when I took the shots and turned I slipped ont he ice and ruptured a disc in my lower back resulting in an operation later in the year.

March—Small wharf on a city lake in Mesquite, Texas

April—Bluebonnet Fence—Shot on the Ennis Texas Bluebonnet trail.

May—Ford F1 pickup in Waxahachie, Texas. HDR using three shots .7f apart and combined in Photomatix Pro.

June—Phoenix Sunset—Shot from the Phoenix Mountain Preserve looking west over the northern part of the city.

July—Yosemite Falls—Shot from the valley floor about 1/2 mile from the base of the falls.

August–No photos in August due to back operation so this is from a September Italian Autofest in Grapevine, Texas. Lamborgini with a little play in Photoshop.

September—Unkown flower in my back yard and played with just a little in Photoshop curves.

October—The Texas Star ferris wheel at the State Fair of Texas. The rest of the family likes an almost identical shot except for the fact that the wheel is stopped and you can see where it says “Texas Star” on its side. I like the plaid effect of the moving wheel.

November—Sabinal Valley area of the Texas Hill Country. This was not far from the town of Utopia where the movie Utopia was filmed. Looking west on a cloudy day, I used a circular polarizer to cut the glare on the water.

December—Ruins—Old car about a mile from my house in a pasture with a lot of cactus and goats. Couldn't get any closer, the land was signed “Posted no trespassing”. Looks like an old ganstermobile. Who knows Bonnie and Clyde might have driven it at one time. HDR, three photos combined in Photomatix Pro then played with a little in Photoshop.
