The Hotline

This design of telephone dates from the 1960s and was ubiquitous during my childhood, to my mind it is the de-facto telephone. This particular phone was left behind by the previous owners of my house and I gladly adopted it and stuck a modern plug on the end. The stamp on the bottom indicates that, like me, it was produced in 1973.

I still can't figure out how the wires can get so tangled when you just pick the receiver up and place it back down again. I'm sure there's a PhD waiting for someone to research it.
Perhaps there are phone fairies who dance around the phone at night time twisting the cables.

Great shots. We had a phone just like this in my flat in London when I was a student. I seem to remember we were forever untangling the coiled wire!
