First prime

by Berckmans Peter June. 07, 2017 1034 views

Just went to get my first prime lens for my Fuji, it is the 35mm( eq53mm) f1.4.Could not wait to try it out, but the weather is nasty today, so turned my attention to some flowers inside. Felt the difference with my kitlens very quick, it has no stabilisation so had to keep that in mind. It is very easy to create a nice bokeh with this one and it is fast. I think I gonna love this lens, but have to learn to use it correctly.

Thank you Helen. Today just tried out 1 photo on all the aperture settings, just to see what is the difference and where he gets the sharpest. But already love this little fellow.

Does you X-T10 have autofocus or manual?  As Eshyed said, @ f1.4 your area of clear focus is pretty limited...Have fun! Nothing like having a new lens........right???

Has both, I have noticed that manual focus seems to be the better choice at 1.4 to about 2

Nice to have both options, especially if you can override the autofocus, when you turn the manual focus ring!

For me, getting a new lens is like going on vacation......

It makes my usually familiar surroundings seem all new & more interesting........
sparks my imagination & enthusiasm, anew...

My 35mm is my favorite lens at this point. Nailing focus is not easy at 1.4.  But practice is always fun smile

My first "real"(slr film) camera had 1 prime with it . My first dslr had a zoom. After using a zoom for quite a while and switching back to a prime I noticed a lazy habit I developed. Instead of reframing a picture by moving I moved the zoom ring just a bit. Is this a habit that you noticed also?

Yes, with a zoom you get a litlebit lazy. You do not move around. And let the zoom do the work. Love thinking about the framing, position and the limitatinon of a fixef focus lens.
