Versailles extravaganza

My wife when she came to live with me, didn't know much from Europe ( she is asian ), the only things she knew was Napoleon, the tullips fields in Holland and Versailles. After many years I finally took her to Versailles. the palace is enormous, 700 rooms and very, very big gardens. When you spend a day here you can take a thousand photos. The palace was made by Louis XIV, the sun king and was more a political move than it was for pleasure. Al who was at court had to live there, keeping his enemies close to him. It was a golden prison. So here is a small selection from the photos I took and by the way, don't think you walk alone there. About 5 miljon visitors every year come there. Hard to take a picture with no people on it.

This is only a small part of the palace, and the city of Versailles is also nice to visit it has grown around the palace, before there was only the palace.hope you like the pics and when there be sure to visit it.

#2 #3 are gorgeous. I am really drawn to the angles - and the GOLD! #9 is a great shot - editorial type, if a person were to write something up - this would accompany the article nicely.

Great series!  I particularly like Pictures #4 (for the composition with the statue in foreground, middle ground, and building/sky in the background), #5, #6 (for their leading lines from the floor), and #9 (for the busts in the foreground and backgrounds).

These are awesome Peter...really love, love, #6.  My husband and I backpacked around Europe in 1998 for a month and had such a great time.  So many amazing sights to see.
