An institute gone

These are some pics that I promised in my previous post. Well this old factory ,you could say it was an institute, it gave work to a lot of people in this area of Belgium. The old paperfactory was really big and went on for about 150 years. Generations of families worked here. In its time it was cutting edge and in front of its time. Sadly it all came to an end in 2004. Now it will be turned in a housing project and offices. Luckely they gonna keep some of the old parts and they will find a place in the project.

I knew I had to go back there, because work is in progress and soon you will not be able to sneek in. In november last year I came here at the end of a day taking photos and fell without batteries. - De Naeyer -

Of I was with tripod, 12mm lens and enough batteries. The light that came in gave a very nice colorscheme, so no conversion to monochrome. Did a few and they also look good , but in this case I prefer the color ones.

One or two monochrome ones are allowed, Can't help myself

Wow, that is an incredible good set! Of course the location is interesting, but you shot so many different angles and details. The contrasts and story telling povs ...  thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup

Fascinating place. I'm pleased they are going to keep some of the characteristics of the old building when they redevelop it.

It is sad to loose a bit of history like this . Hopefully when they convert it into its new life they will keep the old building and charter of the building . I love old loft style apartments or apartments that keep the style of the old building but turn it into a home. Great series of images :)

Very good pictures ! The sunlight and the shadows in the colored photos make this building really attractive and more alive, the mono looks a bit dreary and boring. (What I call 'november-mood') smileI can well imagine how fantastic it must be to live there, when they created Lofts and ateliers from parts of the builing.
