Old on modern

After my post from the Fujica St605 with some lenses, some of you were wondering how these lenses would perform on a modern camera. Well I put the Ifoco 28mm f2.8 on my Fuji XT10 and went on the street with it. I tries to use it for streetphotography and it did quite well. Just was missing the AF a bit for speed , so I tried some zone focussing. That worked quite well. So here are some results of a vintage lens on my modern camera.

Now the 28mm is on my camera in fact a 42mm what gives a nice lenght for the street.

The Ifoco is not as sharp as my modern lenses, but it is about 35y old and it is a joy to use.

The next few are with the Coslinar 135mm f2.8 on my digital body, it already surprised my with film and must say it surprised me again. On my camera it is a 210mm , try to buy a modern 210mm with a constant f2.8, for 20Euros.

As you can see I am not shy to post these in full resolution. If you have some old lenses lying around, get yourself an adapter and give them a go. If you still have the filmcamera to go with them even better. You should enjoy them, the gear is worth it.

Great series. While sharpness is important to me the old lenses have a quality to them that is missing in the modern more sharp lenses. Maybe one day in the future the pendulum will swing back towards lenses having a bit of charter.

Thanks Jay, old glass has something about it. The new lenses can be very clinical

I wonder if they change, after a long period of time, much like old window & bottle glass does.....interesting ...smile

Seems that everything in the "physical world" changes, over time......
