Defocus.2

The art of defocus got my attention thanks to Piotr. First I was thinking, how hard can it be. Well after trying today and I took about 50 photos looking to get it correct, I must admit it is hard. We have to let loose many things we find normal as a photographer. Also I found it hard to find out how much I had to go away from focus. Using a fast prime means that you can blur everything untill there is nothing left. Than the subject, it has to be recognisable . Compositionwise it is also not easy. From all the ones I took today, only a handfull survived the cut. For presentation, I find you have to make a very big print of them and look at them from a distance, than the effect comes out.

The following picture is defocused and overexposed. The effect it created , I like. But sure not to everyones taste.

I would say give it a try. You can be very creative .

De-focus comes naturally to me- especially before I starting wearing glasses!  Seriously, this is a nice set of which I will practice.

I wear glasses to and my eyesight is getting worse, so look how long I still can do the old analog manual focus;

I rather like the way you did #1. Quite a nice shot. This is something I might play with in the near future and see what kind of results I get. The 100mm macro might be the one I do it with

I so love #1. Pearls of light floating like soap bubbles. Amazing work Peter

I like this photos a lot, Peter! And thanks again for mentioning me.
I agree with you that it is not easy and can take a lot of effort if one is not lucky enough to stumble upon perfect photo opportunity. Also, for me defocusing is not interesting for its own sake, but because it allows to be more creative - like you said wink
