Austria pt6 - Salzburg.1

Our last part of the holiday brings us to Salzburg. Salzburg is the city of Mozart, he was born here and lived a good part of his life here, everywhere you go , you get reminded of him.

But the city is much more old and gained its riches from salt. Today you can still visit saltmines and see for yourself how they took out the salt.No surprise that it was all controlled by the church. And the bisschops who had the title of prince were very very rich. The most famous are Wolf Dietrich van Raitenau and Markus Sitticus von Hohemens. There even were saltwars with Germany.

Nowadays it is a city filled with music, romance and beautifull buildings. To vist the city in depth you can spent a week here and find something new everyday. Lets also not forget this is the city of The Sound Of Music. you find traces of the movie all over the city.

Birthhouse of Mozart, the only genuine part is the doorbell I believe.

I decide to make a second post about this city. Do not wanna give you an overdose of Salzburg. See you in Salzburg.2

Wait a second Peter!! They had doorbells when Mozart was born? 😉😂
Looks like there were quite a few tourists during your visit.

Wow, now that you mention it I do remember seeing something similar somewhere. My mind was working on the visual of today's doorbells.

I also loved this city. Now it seems to be packed with people all over the place, but it is still a beauty.
