75 years of Liberation.

As I said in my previous post, Just Thanks , this weekend it was a big remenbrance of the liberation of Antwerp. Going on for 3 days with official ceremonies, a show of ships plains and land vehicles. Now the - Liberation Column North- must have been the greatest attraction of the weekend. This Column travels a good part of Belgium this year, for the liberation of Belgium.all along the route of the column, commemorative events will be organised. If I understood correct there also is a Liberation Column South that covers the Ardens and other parts in the south of Belgium. More information can found here,belgiumremebers44-45

Now I took quite some photos from this column when they were parked in the liberation village in the centre of Antwerp. So I have to split them up in a few blogs. all pictures were taken in B&W. Some with a modern lens others with a vintage lens. Also I created my own B&W setting in the camera to my liking.

So the first post will be about the vehicles, some of them actually took part in the liberation of Belgium.

This was a small selection from what I took that day. The next part of this weekend is gonna be about the people . Who carefully restore these machines and help to keep the memory alive. See you there.

great series of images. I love the reflections in #3 almost gives the image a haunting feeling to it or a moment frozen within a moment.

Nice photos...I admire your talent for capturing detail and the B&W style was also a nice touch.

Definitely the only way to go with these series is monochrome, it brings back that feeling of being in that era.

Glad you like it. In color it would have been a sea of olive green
