Chinon CE3 Memotron

by Berckmans Peter July. 10, 2020 780 views

For Chinon cameras I have a bit of a weak spot. It is a bit of a forgotten name in the cameraworld. They are build very good ( the older ones ) and that you can feel when you hold it, it is heavy. Also Chinon made some very good lenses, just the 55mm f1.7 is a super performer. The CE3 Memotron is semi automatic he selects the speed for you depending on the chosen aperture, aperture priority. There were 3 memotrons, the CE, CE2 and CE 3. If you would like to read more about here is a nice link.

When it came to me , I had to change the lightseals and the mirrordamper. The lens was proffesional cleaned by my repairguy. The film used to test it was a Fomapan 400, what really made some good results.

I have never heard of this camera, with 1000 SS, and M42 mount, plenty of Russian lenses to use.
Beautiful grainy photos btw.

Oh yeah many lenses to choose from. I have a few, russion, East German, German and Japanese ones. Lovely to use . I believe there are more than 4000 different M42 lenses made.

I agree! I have an old panasonic point & shoot that takes very nice images but, the automatic lens cover no longer automatically covers the lens face, when I turn it off, requiring me to help it close with the aid of a toothpick....

Great camera the  ChinonCE3,Chinon Industries Inc. was owned by Kodak Japan Limited in 2004, the Japanese daughter company of Eastman Kodak Co. Before that time Chinon had been an independent camera manufacturer for over 40 years.
Love the B&W images..
