The journey we take

Finally I could go out with the camera today. Enjoying my free time by just wandering into the city. I came across the St Andries church, in the south of the centre. And it was open. This church is from the early 16th century with a big history and some important works of art. So in we went. What got my attention was a row of shoes, going from todler shoes to adults. Strange enough it is an artwork that shows the journey of life, the journey we all take. It begins with a playbox for babies and ends with the unavoidable death.

Just gonna show you a few parts of this artwork that got my attention. Must say when I was getting into this work through the camera, I got pretty quiet.

These are the first steps we take

Than we grow up in childhood

With time we fill the shoes of adulthood

Also this wheelchair is part of the work, rpresenting the part of life when we are going downhill and in need of help and care. Behind the corner was death, sadly they were doing some restoration work in that part of the church and I could not go in.

Wow Peter! Gave me the chills. Not just your excellent captures, but also the whole idea and set up behind this art. Really does make you reflect.  Thanks for sharing and glad you were able to get out again smile

It was more than time to get out again. The idea behind this installation is quite powerfull. You can pinpoint where you are on your journey.
