Trouble at Swan Lake

by Berckmans Peter September. 22, 2020 210 views

When I went for my eveningwalk yesterday, my mind was set on a nice sunset to capture. As I reached the small lake wher the swan are ,there was trouble. Three new swans has arrived on the water, but the resident male would have non of that. He started chasing the newcommers away in a fury. It was another couple with a youngster. The couple left very quick and left the youngster alone. The male went many times after the youngster in a not so friendly way. Never new Swans were so territolrial.

As I had set of to capture a sunset, I was totally not prepared for a scene ike this. Just had my standaardlens with me, what is a 16-50mm. Luckely I have the controls from my camera well in my fingers, so had to change from aperture priorty to shutter priority, change the iso setting and go from a single shot to continuous focus with multishots. Did not had high hopes for a decent photo, all by all the results are pleasing.

I gonna check on the youngster in a few days. Maybe when he can stick around for a few, days they accept him or her.

You couldn't have captured any nicer photos if you all the time in the world. Excellent captures! Obviously one doesn't want to see these birds hurt each other but at the same time very intriguing captures. Hopefully you find the young one healthy and good shape.
