Popart editing, challenge set

by Berckmans Peter March. 07, 2021 455 views

Maybe as you know I am not a big fan of heavy edit. That is why I only use a simple program to edit. The program I use is photoscape a free editing program, it looks like it is made for a child but has some good tools inside it.

Today I decided to have somefun with editing, first I wanted to create popart. In Photoshop it is just a few clicks and you have the desired style. Wanted to see how far I could go.

So I started with this original photo

From this one, I went to this to an Andy Warhole approach

Not really what I wanted, after playing around I came up with this. It is not popart, it is more like Asian cartoons. I like graphic work in many styles and am pleased with the end result. It is going to be printed.

I would be interested to see of any of you can create some popart from your photos. So hereby I challenge you all to step forward and pick up the gauntlet.

I like all of them, Peter. I use PhotoScape X, as well. Simple, but very versatile.

Actually, I prefer #3. Your daughter is more beautiful every time you show a photo of her. 😊

Fascinating article. Great photos. I do very little editing. I tend to just take a picture of a subject as it is and leave it except to perhaps increase the brightness or contrast and maybe crop it a little. To do these I use afree program called "Digital Photo Profesional 4" which came with my canon camera. I've no wish to pay for programs like Photoshop. Your article, however, has encouraged me to try Photoscape in an attempt to increase my photographic output and expertise. Thank you!

I'm always encouraging my Former Photo Buddy to experiment like this and she does occasionally surprise me. I do like your rendition of this portrait. The name Andy Warhol sprang to mind before I read your commentary. Excellent attempt, Peter.

Very interesting challenge Peter. What a wonderful expression from your daughter! I have used PhotoScape in the past and I really liked playing around with so many of the tools.
One time I combined an image using Affinity and PhotoScape and what a wild image that was. (maybe I will share it someday)
I have several projects going on here, but this challenge might be too hard to not pass on.smile
#3 I like a lot!

I am loving the results. Both #3 and #4 I love. It is something I have tried many times with less than sucessful results.

Hi Peter, its been a long time since I engaged here. Firstly your daughter is a beautiful young lady.  The work you did on your pop art is quiet good. However, my opinion only, I am not a fan of the textured background you achieved. If you are interested in doing another edit to remove the stipple effect of the background, I can teach you how to do it. It is a trick I learned long ago using Photoshop. Take care, be safe.

Thanks Syd, nice to hear from you. This is for me just a bit of fun. My daughter is the photographer/graphic designer. At one stage I had it with no texture in it. I like the final result, personal taste. Thanks for the offer. Maybe you can create a real popart for us.

Hi Peter, That is fine that your preference is as you posted, when u come to think of it, it was pretty dumb of me to suggest otherwise. if it wasn't your preference you would not have posted it in the first place...boink, boink.  I would be happy to do a painting of your daughter. I am in the midst of rediscovering my painting style, something called "bold strokes'. It is way out there !!!! After I post it here, if it is not your taste let me know, and I will make a traditional portrait painting.  Take care, be safe.

I am probably going to accept your challenge, but in the meantime I want to let you know that I love your daughter's expression in this photo. Very alluring look. As far as your edits, #4 is more to my liking grinning
